Playing with the <DIV> Tag. Reference: w3schools.com

<div style=”border:solid 1px black; width:200px; height:100px; overflow:auto; float:left; margin: 20px;”>

Talking about DIVS
http://www.w3schools.com/

When we talk about css and html one of the best online sources
is w3schools.com.

There they have tutorials, examples, and even tools to let you see
what happens when you change things.

<div style=”border:1px solid black; height:100px;width:300px; overflow:auto; float:right; margin: 20px;”>

The <div> tag defines a division or a section in an HTML document.

The <div> tag is often used to group block-elements to format them with styles.

<div style=”clear:both;border:solid 1px red; background:yellow;margin:20px;” >
This is a div that is clearing the above floating divs

This class is more informal, it is Friday after all. We will be asking and answering questions like “How do I ??? on my computer?”

Class Recording

Sharing Internet Connection (google for “how to share my windows internet connection”)

Controlling 2 computers with same mouse and keyboard: VNC and win2vnc (I like TightVNC on computer to control, win2vnc on computer doing controlling)

If you need an office suite, you can use openoffice.org/

Gimp is a better image manipulation program than paint.

PDF – usually viewed with Adobe Acrobat, can be created with OpenOffice program. You can even upload your finished PDF to lulu.com and have it printed as a normal book.

open Windows Explorer (not internet explorer) and use a location/url like ftp://username@domain.com/ and it will ask you for a password and when you are logged in you can drag and drop files from your desktop, from other windows explorer file windows, etc.

As always, the class will be recorded and the recording will be available here soon after class is over.
